Scheduled & milk-run distribution

Milk run logistics in Singapore, on a fixed schedule you can plan around

A milk run is a fixed route, run on a fixed window, by the same driver, every working day. It is the most efficient way to move regular volume between a small number of sites, and it is the core of what SRM Logistics does.

We run scheduled distribution for Singapore businesses that need the same deliveries made at the same time, week in, week out: a central site feeding outlets, a distributor replenishing partners, a manufacturer moving equipment to hospitals and clinics. The route is designed once, agreed in writing, and then simply runs.

Who it is for

Who scheduled distribution is for

Scheduled distribution suits any organisation with predictable, recurring movements between fixed points in Singapore. Typical customers include:

  • Distributors and wholesalers replenishing retail partners, dealers or service centres on a daily or weekly cycle.
  • Manufacturers and importers moving finished goods, parts or equipment from a central site to customer locations.
  • Healthcare suppliers delivering equipment and consumables to hospitals, clinics and distribution centres on daily routes.
  • Multi-site businesses shuttling documents, stock or materials between their own offices, outlets or depots.

If you are currently booking the same delivery on an ad-hoc basis three or four times a week, you are paying ad-hoc rates for scheduled work. A milk run fixes the cost per delivery and takes the booking out of your day.

Set-up

How we set up a milk run

  1. Route design

Our operations team maps your sites, receiving hours, dock or loading-bay constraints and typical load per stop. We sequence the route to minimise travel time and fit each site's receiving window. Where a site has no dock, we assign a tailgate lorry so the load still reaches ground level without manual lifting.

  2. Fixed windows

Each stop is given a delivery window that your receiving staff can rely on. Windows are agreed in writing and become part of the contract. If your operations change, the route is re-planned with you, not adjusted silently.

  3. Driver continuity

The same driver runs the same route. They learn your sites, your security procedures and the people who sign for the goods. Every driver on a scheduled route is an SRM Logistics employee — we do not place your route with a subcontractor, and we do not rotate strangers through it.

  4. Proof of delivery and reporting

Every stop is recorded in our transport management system: arrival time, items handed over, signature and any exception noted at the point of delivery. You receive proof of delivery per stop, and a consolidated record with your monthly invoice. If a stop is missed or delayed, operations tells you before you have to ask.

Schedules

Schedule types

  • AM milk run

Departs first thing; stops completed before the working day is fully under way.

Typical use: Restocking outlets before opening; delivering to sites that receive early.

  • PM milk run

Afternoon route; collections and deliveries completed by end of day.

Typical use: Returns, consolidations, end-of-day dispatches.

  • Office-hours schedule

Fixed route within standard business hours.

Typical use: Inter-office runs, document and stock transfers, business-to-business drops.

  • After-office-hours schedule

Route run outside standard hours, agreed by contract.

Typical use: Sites that can only receive after closing; deliveries that must not interrupt trading.

Most customers combine schedules — an AM milk run for outbound and a PM run for returns is common. The pattern is designed around your receiving sites, not our convenience.

Loads

What we carry

Scheduled routes move parcels, cartons, sensitive equipment and pallets across our fleet of vans and box lorries. Vans handle multi-drop parcel and carton routes and fit tight loading bays. Tailgate lorries take pallets and bulky cartons to sites without docks. Our 24-ft lorries consolidate multi-pallet loads into a single trip.

Goods are loaded, secured and unloaded by our drivers. At docks they work with pallet jacks and your receiving team as standard. We do not carry goods that require refrigeration; what we do is move your goods from A to B, on time, every time.

Pricing

How pricing works

Scheduled distribution is priced as a contract rate per route, per month. The rate reflects the route length, number of stops, vehicle class and schedule type, and it is fixed for the contract term. You know your cost per delivery before the first run.

All scheduled work is invoiced on a single consolidated monthly invoice in SGD, with the delivery record attached. Ad-hoc jobs booked alongside a scheduled contract appear on the same invoice at your contracted ad-hoc rate. One contract, one invoice, one point of contact.

We do not publish rates because no two routes are the same. Send us your sites and volumes and we will return a written proposal.

Questions

Scheduled distribution — common questions

What is the minimum commitment for a scheduled route?

Scheduled routes are contracted monthly, typically for an initial term agreed in the rate proposal. Shorter trial periods can be arranged for new customers who want to test a route before committing. Terms are set out in writing before the first run.

Can the route change after it starts?

Yes. Sites open, close and move, and volumes change with the season. Route changes are re-planned with our operations team and confirmed in writing, and the rate is adjusted only if the vehicle class or stop count materially changes.

Do we get the same driver every day?

That is the intention and the norm. The driver assigned to your route is an SRM Logistics employee who learns your sites and procedures. When they are on leave, a trained relief driver from our own team covers, briefed on your route.

What proof of delivery do we receive?

Each stop is recorded in our transport management system with time, items and signature. Proof of delivery is available per stop, and the consolidated record accompanies your monthly invoice. Exceptions are reported by operations as they happen.

Can you run routes outside office hours?

Yes. After-office-hours schedules are a standard option for sites that receive after closing or that cannot take deliveries during trading. Hours are agreed by contract with the route.

Do you handle pallets and sites without a loading dock?

Yes. Our box lorries are fitted with tailgates so pallets can be delivered to ground level where there is no dock. At sites with docks, our drivers work with pallet jacks and your receiving team as standard.
