Medical device transport
Medical equipment logistics in Singapore, run to the standard the industry expects
High-value medical equipment does not forgive careless handling. A unit that arrives damaged, late or with a broken chain of custody is a cost to the supplier, a delay to the hospital and, at worst, a delay to a patient.
SRM Logistics has run daily scheduled routes for a global medical device manufacturer for many years, delivering equipment to hospitals, clinics and distribution centres across Singapore and meeting every service KPI over multi-year contracts. This page sets out how we do it, and why the way we are structured matters to a regulated customer.
Handling discipline
How we handle medical equipment
- Careful loading, every time.
- Equipment is loaded by the driver who will deliver it, secured in the vehicle against movement, and unloaded at the destination by the same person. Nothing is stacked on top of a unit. Nothing is left loose.
- Tailgates and pallet handling.
- Our box lorries are fitted with tailgates, so wheeled or palletised equipment reaches ground level under control at sites without a dock. At hospital and distribution-centre docks, our drivers work with pallet jacks and the receiving team as a matter of routine.
- Trained, employed drivers.
- Every driver on a medical route is an SRM Logistics employee, trained on the handling requirements of the equipment and on the receiving procedures of each site. The same driver runs the same route, so hospital receiving staff see a familiar face and the driver knows where to go, whom to see and what to sign.
- Chain of custody.
- Every collection and handover is recorded in our transport management system with time, items and signature. If a customer requires additional documentation at handover, it is built into the route procedure and checked by operations.
- Scheduled daily routes.
- Medical work is run as scheduled distribution: fixed routes, fixed windows, the same vehicle and driver. Urgent same-day movements are added on our response tiers when a unit is needed on site today.
Track record
Proven with a global medical device manufacturer
For many years we have run daily scheduled routes for a global medical device manufacturer, moving equipment between its Singapore distribution point and hospitals, clinics and other sites island-wide. The routes are measured against defined service KPIs — on-time delivery, handling and documentation — and we have met them throughout, across successive contract renewals.
We do not name the customer on this site without written permission. What we can say is that the work is daily, it is measured, and it has been renewed. A procurement or operations manager evaluating us is welcome to ask for a reference through our operations team.

Why no subcontracting matters
Why single-vendor accountability matters for regulated customers
Medical device suppliers are accountable for how their products are handled all the way to the point of use. That accountability does not stop at the vendor they contract with — it runs through every party that touches the equipment.
When transport is subcontracted, the supplier's audit trail becomes a chain of companies it has never assessed. The driver at the hospital dock may work for a firm the supplier has never heard of. If something goes wrong, the question “who handled it?” has no quick answer.
SRM Logistics does not subcontract. The vehicle is ours, the driver is our employee, the training is ours and the record is ours. When you contract with us, the organisation you assessed is the organisation that turns up. That is what “one company, one contract” means in practice, and it is why regulated customers have kept renewing with us.
A typical route
What a typical medical route looks like
- Collection from the supplier's Singapore distribution point at a fixed time each working day.
- Sequenced delivery to hospitals, specialist clinics and distribution centres, in an order agreed with the customer and the receiving sites.
- Handover at the dock or receiving area to named staff, with signature and any site-specific documentation.
- Returns and collections on the same route where required — units for service, packaging, consignment stock.
- Exception reporting from operations the moment a window is at risk, so the customer's team can inform the site.
The route is documented, the driver is briefed on it, and it runs the same way every day.
Questions
Medical device transport — common questions
What kind of medical equipment do you transport?
We move medical devices and equipment on behalf of manufacturers and distributors: capital equipment, instruments, consumables and consignment stock, whether in cartons, on wheels or on pallets. We do not carry goods that require refrigerated transport.
Are your drivers trained for medical equipment?
Yes. Every driver on a medical route is an SRM Logistics employee, briefed on the handling requirements of the equipment and the receiving procedures at each site. The same driver runs the same route, so site knowledge builds rather than resets.
Do you subcontract any part of the route?
No. The vehicle, the driver, the training and the delivery record are all ours. That is the basis of our accountability to regulated customers.
Can you deliver into hospitals?
Yes. Our routes deliver daily into hospitals, specialist clinics and distribution centres across Singapore. Site access procedures, dock hours and named receiving staff are built into the route plan.
What documentation do you provide at handover?
Every handover is recorded with time, items and signature in our transport management system, and proof of delivery is provided per stop. Customer-specific documentation can be added to the route procedure and is checked by operations.
Can you provide a reference from an existing medical customer?
Yes, subject to that customer's consent. Ask our operations team when you request a quote and we will arrange it.
